On Deck

No. 11 | January 24, 2024

Every year I spend hundreds of hours building a slide deck on the state of decarbonization at the current moment. It is less an output, for me, than a continuous flow over the course of twelve months.

It begins with loose concept and liminal data collection, moves through firming and shaping of data, image, and message, and ends with what I hope is a master narrative. A clear view of the present, as I said last year. Not just a clear view though: a theory of change, as well, and a theory that creates a sense of the future.

I will publish the 2025 edition next week. I won’t give away the master narrative quite yet - but suffice to say that my sense of where we are is more complex than ever, with a few through-lines that we can hopefully grasp.

And if you are a subscriber to this newsletter, you will receive it first.
If you are reading this as a subscriber already - thank you! And if you received this from a colleague, please subscribe below so that you are the first to receive Decarbonization 2025.

Here is a preview (of sorts): what 200 slides looks like in slide sorter mode, in the last hours of two-dimensional narrative configuration.

I am setting my speaking schedule for the first half of the year.
If you are interested in a keynote or a board briefing, I would love to hear from you.
